ABOUT THE CENTRE

The Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI) is a University Grants Commission (UGC) sponsored centre functioning in Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapuramu (Andhra Pradesh) since 1st July 2008 to conduct research on the issue of social exclusion and inclusive policy, which has hypothetical as well as policy importance. The focus of such research will be social exclusion and inclusion related to Women, Dalits, tribal, and religious minorities etc. The Tenth Plan recognizes that marginalization, exclusion, persecution of people on account of social, religious, caste and gender adversely affect developmental outcomes. The State is committed to instituting a National Charter to ensure social justice to deprived communities like Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, other backward castes and minorities including women.

Some key Functions of Centre are:

  1. Conceptualizing discrimination, exclusion and inclusion based on castes/ethnicity andreligion.
  2. Developing understanding of the nature and dynamics of discrimination and exclusion.
  3. Contextualizing and problematizing discrimination, exclusion and inclusion.
  4. Developing an understanding of discrimination at an empirical lever.
  5. Formulating policies for protecting the rights of these groups and eradicating the problem ofexclusion and discrimination.

The library of the CSSEIP has equipped with sufficient furniture and procured 765 books with different titles and also multiple copies of important books related to the studies of the Centre during the 11th& 12th plan periods. The library was established in the centre and the classified books were arranged in the book racks for the use of staff & scholars as per the Dewey Decimal Classification Method.

Activities and Events of CSSEIP:

  1. National Workshop on “Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy: Regional Dimensions” organized on 11th November 2008.
  2. National Workshop on “Advocacy – Strategies/Methods on Human Rights Social Exclusion and Inclusion” organized during 5th& 6th October 2009.
  3. National Workshop on “Capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education”, organized during 8th to 12thFebruary 2011, (Sponsored by UGC)
  4. National Seminar on “Status of Women in Higher Education: Policies and Perceptive”, organized during 6th& 7th March 2012, (Sponsored by APSCHE).
  5. National Seminar on “Inclusive Development of Marginalised Sections: Issues and Challenges” organized during 3rd and 4th March,2017.
  6. National Seminar on “Budget Allocations for the Development of Socially Excluded groups in India: An Assessment” organized during 20th and 21st March,2017.
  7. Invited Lecture on the Development of Marginalised Sections, on 10th October, 2017.
  8. Orientation Programme on UGC NET to the SC, ST, OBC and Minority Students, 3rd November, 2017.
  9. International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December, 2017.
  10. National Seminar on “Efforts of Poets in Social Transformation” organized during 25th and 26th March 2019) .
  11. National Webinar is “The Role of Writers,Artists, Journalists and Social Activists in Inclusive Society: With Special Reference to Rayalaseema”, which was held on 25-03-2021 and 26-03-2021.
  12. National Webinar is “Inclusive Programs of the Government of Andhra Pradesh: Issues and Challenges”, which was held on 18-05-2022 and 19-05-2022.
  13. Flood Relief Medical Camp On 28th October 2022, a medical camp was held at the 5th Road Ananthapuramu to provide healthcare services to individuals affected by the recent flood. The camp was organized by the Center for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) and Rural Development & Social Work departments, and staffed by a team of volunteer healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.
  14. Two-day National Seminar on the topic entitled “Development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes: Issues, Problems and Prospects” during 09-11-2023 and 10-11-2023.
  15. The Centre organized an Awareness Campaign on Education, Livelihood, and Infrastructure Development Programs for Scheduled Tribes in Chinnakunta Village. The event was held on January 29, 2025, at Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ananthapuramu.

  17. One-Day Workshop Report on “Empowering Landless Agricultural Labourers: A Roadmap for Inclusive Growth” Held on 28th January 2025.
  18. Two-Day National Seminar on “Socio Economic Empowerment of Particularly VulnerableTribal Groups (PVTGs) In India: Issues, Opportunities And Challenges” 28th And 29th March 2025.
  19. One Day Work shop On “Digital Literacy for Employability among Marginalized Communities” Held On18-12-2025.
  20. Two day National Seminar On “Reinventing Policies for Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Marginalised Communities in the wake of Viksit Bharat-2047” On 30th and 31st March,2026
