Dr. Gonuguntla Venkata Naidu is a highly respected Professor in the Department of Economics at S.K. University, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Born on March 1, 1962, Dr. Naidu holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics, with his academic journey marked by a third-rank distinction in his master’s program. With over 28 years of teaching experience, he has taught various subjects, including Macro Economics, Environmental Economics, Agricultural Economics, and Public Finance at the postgraduate level. His extensive academic and professional background has also enabled him to serve in several key administrative roles, most notably as the Rector of S.K. University since June 2024.
Dr. Naidu’s research focuses on Rural Development through Institutional Finance, with significant experience in studying the economic impacts of environmental and industrial changes, public finance, and agricultural economics. Over his 30-year research career, he has guided 12 Ph.D. scholars and 3 M.Phil. students, contributing immensely to the academic community. His research work has been widely published, with over 48 research papers in national and international journals, addressing topics such as poverty alleviation, institutional finance, rural development, and women’s empowerment. Dr. Naidu’s commitment to research is also evident through his participation in various research projects, including a notable UGC-funded project on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Naidu has been an active participant in national and international seminars, presenting papers on diverse topics, ranging from rural economic transformation to challenges in Indian agriculture. He has published several books, such as *Role of Banking in Rural Development* and *Micro Economic Analysis*, and has been involved in organizing numerous seminars and workshops. His dedication to both academia and community service is reflected in his membership in various professional bodies, including the Andhra Pradesh Economic Association and the Indian Economic Association.
