Brief History of the Department :
In response to the aspirations of the people of Anantapur and Kurnool districts a Department of Bio-sciences started functioning from the year 1977 with two major disciplines –Plant Sciences and Animal Sciences. In 1984 it was proposed to start separate courses for Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. As a consequences of this a separate full-fledged department of Botany started functioning from 1985.
