Brief History of the Department :
The Department was started in S.V.University in the year 1970. Later, it was shifted to the AnantapurP.G.Centre in 1973-74. Only the B.L. course was offered and the classes were conducted in the Arts Colleges Building in the Town. From 1976-77, classes were conducted at the university Campus. The Department was allotted an exclusive building in 1982. The LL.M Constitutional Law and Criminal Law Degree programmes were started in 1985 and 1994 to meet the growing regional requirements.
